Smart Engineering Solutions (SES)
Ahmed Naguib, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Smart Engineering Solutions (SES), sought collaboration with trAIDe with a clear mission. SES, a company specialising in renewable energy, wanted to consolidate its position in the market and integrate innovative technologies in the field of renewable energy. Ahmed Naguib and SES aimed to find suitable partner companies in Germany in the field of renewable energies, but also to better understand the German management aspects. In addition, SES was looking for high-quality components from Germany, particularly in the field of photovoltaics and inverters.
Initial situation:
Smart Engineering Solutions (SES), a renewable energy company based in Egypt, was looking for an international partnership to expand its business and introduce the latest renewable energy technologies. Even before partnering with trAIDe, SES was an established company in the renewable energy sector in Egypt. Since its establishment in 2008, SES has made impressive progress. The company serves diverse organisations such as hotels, factories, farms and hospitals by introducing innovative solutions, including solar systems for power generation and water treatment. With an annual turnover of 1,750,000 euros and 80 employees, SES had clear goals, including finding German partner companies in the renewable energy sector and expanding the business.
What we did:
In 2022, SES worked closely with trAIDe to achieve these ambitious goals. Tutoring sessions were held during the programme to prepare short- and longlists of B2B meetings. Through this process the German partner company FRENELL was found. In addition, SES received training on “How to Pitch”, which helped them to communicate effectively and appropriately with German companies. This training prepared them to present their vision convincingly in just three minutes, which proved to be extremely successful in practice. The “Business Planning” training helped to build a strong relationship with German business partners by implementing weekly meetings, agendas and action plans.
Results:
The collaboration with trAIDe led to the establishment of a joint venture with the German company FRENELL in 2022. In total, two contracts worth 175 million euros each were concluded. This collaboration led to significant changes in the corporate structure, with the establishment of FRENELL Egypt, in which SES and FRENELL each held 50% of the shares. The joint venture partnership is expected to increase SES’s annual turnover to an average of EUR 40 million per year.
The introduction of new technologies, especially concentrated solar power combined with molten salt, will revolutionise the Egyptian market, especially in terms of energy storage and remote areas. Under the supervision of the New Valley Government in Egypt, FRENELL Egypt will develop mega renewable energy projects in the Western Desert of Egypt to provide electricity for more than 2 million hectares of agricultural activities. SES has already acquired the land for the solar power project.
The cooperation with trAIDe has not only enabled SES to significantly expand its business activities, but has also made an important contribution to the promotion of renewable energy in Egypt. This partnership has not only led to financial strength, but also to a sustainable and leading-edge commitment to renewable energy and environmental protection.
